Closing the Years-Long Endometriosis Diagnostic Gap
Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease estimated to affect roughly one in ten women, frequently presenting with severe menstrual pain, chronic pelvic pain, gastrointestinal symptoms, and infertility. Diagnostic pathways that rely on imaging and, ultimately, diagnostic laparoscopy have contributed to a multi-year diagnostic gap, with Canadian patients waiting an average of 5.3 years between first help-seeking and confirmed diagnosis. During this time, many individuals face prolonged suffering and a reduced quality of life and productivity, with pain causing repeat emergency room, doctor appointments, missed work and school.
Now available: Tier-1 ENDOSURE diagnostic test for endometriosis
ENDOSURE test is a highly accurate, yet non-invasive, 30-minute diagnostic test for endometriosis that uses electroviscerography (EVG) to record gut electrical signals (gastrointestinal myoelectrical activity or GIMA) and detects a distinctive GIMA biomarker unique to endometriosis and adenomyosis sufferers. Similar to an electrocardiogram (ECG), but for the gut, the test requires no surgery, scopes, or tissue samples. In any age of female-born patient, ENDOSURE test detects all stages and subtypes of endometriosis regardless of lesion location.
Pivotal and validating research on ENDOSURE test has demonstrated 99.97% accuracy, 95% sensitivity and 96% specificity for patients 35 and younger (98.5/91/95 for patients 36 years+). ENDOSURE test is intended as a clinical decision support tool: results are interpreted by qualified healthcare professionals alongside clinical assessment and other diagnostics used to locate and stage disease.
